Hundreds of Second Amendment activists are expected to fill the Capitol Campus for a rally against gun control measures on Saturday in Olympia.
The event is being organized by the 2nd Enforcers, a group opposed to proposals by the Legislature that would require background checks for all gun sales and limit the sale of some firearms.
A rally staged in recent weeks by the same group drew more than 1,000 well-armed gun rights supporters to Olympia. State officials say as many as 2,500 could show up on Saturday.
On Sunday, supporters of more gun control laws will hold their own rally at the state Capitol. That event is being sponsored by Organizing for Action, the new nonprofit created from President Obama’s campaign operation in order to push the president’s legislative agenda.
The pro-gun rally is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday’s rally is slated to take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
